Experiences with the Alb Filter shower filter for removing impurities from shower water
Finnish tap water is renowned for its exceptional cleanliness. Some say tap Finnish tap water is even better than Evian, who knows. According to the Helsinki Region Environmental Services Authority, Finnish tap water is rigorously tested and meets all health and safety standards, ensuring it’s safe to drink. However, nothing is perfect and despite all the efforts, impurities can still find their way into Finnish tap water due to chemicals being used for the treatment of the water as well as aging infrastructure, i.e. the rusty and limescale-filled water pipes.
A while back, after settling into a new home, my partner noticed something peculiar: hair dye seemed to lose its vibrancy, and hair color didn’t hold as well as it used to. Intrigued, we began to suspect the water might be the culprit. It was odd, given that neighboring areas didn’t seem to share the same issue, despite our new residence having recently renovated plumbing.
The notion that tap water could affect our hair seemed far-fetched at first. However, my partner’s hairdresser suggested trying a shower filter, sparking our search for a solution. We scoured various online platforms but found nothing that quite fit the bill until we stumbled upon a shower filter from a German company named *Alb Filter. Their product promised to eliminate, for example, chlorine and heavy metals from the water.
Having researched online, we learned that *Alb Filter’s products are crafted in Germany, and while their website is exclusively in German, Google Chrome’s translation feature came to the rescue. We placed an order, and before long, the package arrived. Installation was a breeze — simply screwing it onto the shower, and we were good to go. Even better, we didn’t notice any decrease in water pressure when we showered, a common concern with cheaper water filters we’d heard.
The filtered water indeed felt different — no strange odors, and hair felt noticeably softer than before. Additionally, there were fewer unsightly stains in the shower glass walls, much to our delight. Even my partner’s hairdresser had noticed the improvement in condition.
After six months, we followed the manufacturer’s recommendation and replaced the filter. The sight of the old filter, stained with months of use, goes to show its effectiveness. Swapping it out for a fresh one was a simple task.
A year later, we’re still delighted with the filter’s performance. Its presence is hardly noticeable, yet it’s made a significant impact. We’re now considering trying a *tap water filter for cleaning drinking water, confident in Alb Filter’s quality and effectiveness.
